Brewberry
Ok, corny, I know. But I needed a laugh. I miss MN, Gabby and all of the beer drinking that came to pass. I will say that I think I even got schooled. Beer, it turns out, is good after all. But not that typical swill that exists at most grocery stores and bars. Any way, this great lil find, had an awesome can and I cut it up to make a pendant out of some of the art. Great lil dog dragon from a can of blueberry beer. Love that this will remind me of MN and Gabby time.

Dinner with the Fam
Catching up with mom & Riva tonight over a quick dinner and glass of vino. Nothing special, just some home made sauce, (see previous post) and bombolini pasta, local made, wilted spinach and italian sausage. It's more of an assemblage than making anything from scratch, but the time that I want to spend tonight is not in the kitchen, but with my family. I need a bit of a catch up and release program.

Found in the middle
I found this fun little button being kicked around the airport when I walked in. I thought it was about right to welcome me home. No matter what, everything's coming up roses.

Cactus Rockstar Water Earring
This is by far the trashiest piece I think I have made. It's tough making art on the go, but it's even tougher making wearable art. Cooking is out of the question here, the fridge consists of beer, sugar free jello and condiments. So jewelry out of last this mornings hydration attempts is an eventful part of my day.

Heading to Gabby's
I thought I would distille the reasons for this trip in a piece of art that tells the story of the beginning, middle and current state of affairs. In short, hook, line and sinker. ;-)

Assemblage
My dinner is an art form this evening. I found in the fridge the following leftovers: 1 hardboiled egg, 2 tbs seaweed salad, 3 tbs kimchi, 1 tbs roe, and faith that is stronger than my stomach. I guess we shall see on that one.

Fake it Till You Make IT.
It's really the concept that I adore. I am not quite as good in the execution phase. But I guess we can all learn. Fancy found button that is placed just so, until it looks like a pile of a girls best friend.

is a bug
So Meena dropped off this lil dude and said he was beautiful. I agreed. I found a ring for this lil gemstone to sit upon. May he rest in peace.

Dinner with Friends
Tonight we enjoyed a somewhat formal dinner with some very beloved friends. Serious Supper Club consists of a few couples that adore food and cooking, and coincidentally live in the NorthSIde of Richmond. This time round, was considered my turn, I think I also signed up for this. So, on a tumultuous Tuesday I began my quest to entertain a diverse set of pallets with something I consider southern-asian-fusion. I am told I succeeded but I think it' just lip service.
Round 1:
grocery store sushi with grocery store garnish and some lame ass rice crackers. OK, I had a long fucking day and I literally had forgotten that people were defending upon my house and I panicked. Decided to burry the disorganized part of the menu in the arrival of so many people in one small space at once. Success! No one noticed that this was in fact a lame attempt at "cooking".
Round2:
Salad course, saved by the season. The only way that this course existed is sincerely due to the season and there being ample produce that is stand alone amazing.
Iceberg lettuce with:
green zebra tomatoes
house grown red peppers
grilled shitake mushrooms
shaved carrot
scallions
Dressing:
2 tbs shaved ginger / pink pickled ginger ( do you like it spicy or sweet?)
3 tbs olive oil
3 carrots grated
2 tbs rice wine vinegar
2 tsp salt
2 tbs gluten free soy sauce
2 tbs miso paste
1 tsp sesame oil
pulse on high in blender until well incorporated
Round 3:
Baked Baby eggplant with
Plum Sauce Dressing:
3 tbs Hosin Sauce
2 tbs miso paste
1 tsp sesame oil
2 tbs gluten free soy sauce
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp chili paste
and
Steamed Jasmine Rice
Round 4:
Local Made ginger ice cream with shaved asian pear and crystalized ginger chunks. Also cheated the shit out of this course by assembling pre existing ingredients rather than "making" anything. I think this is a fine technique especially since I am hostessing and not the head chef. Again, go for your comfort zone. I am always better at assemblage than I am at pure inventiveness.
Enjoy with copious amounts of company and no regrets. Life it is too short.

too many tomatos
Tomato Sauce:
too many tomatos, skinned*
1 bag pepper and onion frozen mix
2 tbs salt
1 tbs sugar
1 bunch fresh oregano, thyme, basil fresh grabbed from the garden.
pepper
2 tbs tomato paste sun dried
4 tbs olive oil
throw everything into a pot and simmer on med until it looks like pasta sauce. Enjoy with gluten free guilt.
*skinned tmts - make a small score with a sharp knife into the bottom side of the tomato and place momentarily into boiling water then remove and blanch into cold water. IT falls off like ashes from paper. amazing technique.

eggs on eggs
Harring roe on hardboiled eggs with garlic stem. You always need a nice plate of eggs to welcome a crowd. Looking forward to a celebration and getting to know the new extended family of Team Eight and Triple Stamp. Looking forward to Q4 and all the necessary change. Cheers to good luck and a brighter future.
